I have an iPhone 13 running iOS 16.5.1. I have twelve text threads stuck to the top of my list of threads. They are NOT pinned. Any new texts I receive appear below these twelve threads. Any advice to fix this other than force quitting the Messages app and restarting my phone?

We'd be happy to help. Pinned Messages have a different appearance from messages that aren't pinned. Do these conversations appear as a row or an icon in the Messages app? Use Messages on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
If the messages are showing that they are not pinned, but look like they are pinned in Messages there are a few steps you can take on your own.
Close the app: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support
Restart iPhone: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
