drop iCloud, how to when steps are blocked by Apple

I want to stop using icloud. When I ask how, apple tells me to do something on the screen which is not doable. In other words, the promised links or next steps are not there. There is a prominent block stating to upgrade to more space or something like that.

I do not want to upgrade, I want to delete. I want to get out of iCloud.

Please do not send me the steps that come up when I ask Google. Those steps are not available on Apple. Is this a marketing technique? If so, it's sleazy.

Hello Bridger2005,

Are you talking about iCloud as a whole or iCloud Mail.

On macOS:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Click on Your Name (Apple ID)
  3. Click iCloud
  4. Under Apps Using iCloud, click Show All
  5. Toggle / Turn off any app you don't want using iCloud

Please keep in mind, iCloud is how Apple saves and syncs your data across all of your Apple devices. If you turn this off data will no longer automatically be saved/synced to your iPhone, or other devices, for example. You'd be responsible for this.

Is there something you're trying to achieve here? If you need more space:

  1. Manage iCloud storage on Mac - Apple Support
  2. Free up storage space on your Mac - Apple Support

If you could provide more details on what you're trying to do, I can offer better assistance!
