Magic Trackpad 2 charging issues

Magic Trackpad 2 will not work wirelessly, displays two different charging statuses-

1) from System Settings/Bluetooth/Trackpad: charging (3-100%);

2) from System Settings/Trackpad: always 3%, never wavers.

I'll guess I need to visit an Apple Store for battery replacement but hoping to find a gentler resolution here.

Thoughts/recommendations?

Hey there cookin,

We'd like to lend a hand!

If you're seeing a discrepancy between battery percentages in your settings, try removing the trackpad from your Mac and then connect it again. This will help resolve any connection or one-off issues regarding the battery percentages.

To remove it, follow these steps:

Choose Apple menu  > System Settings (or System Preferences), then click Bluetooth. Click the Show Detail button , then click Forget This Device. Or move your pointer over the device's name, then click the remove button . After removing the device, turn it off and back on.

Then you can pair it again with the next set of steps here:

1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings (or System Preferences), then click Bluetooth.
2. When your device appears in Bluetooth preferences, click Connect.

Check to see if that helps and feel free to reply with more details if not.

Take care!
