Pictures via text require MMS. MMS requires both the following:

• Settings > Messages > MMS Messaging = “on”
• Permission from your cellular carrier to use MMS under your plan. This may cost extra.

Also if your iPhone hasn't been set to use Cellular Data

could be reason for those images to fail. Unless sender

is another iPhone. Even so, the cellular carrier might be

blocking use of Data if not specifically set up to use it.

Some areas have gaps in service; and for those SMS

& MMS, may lack iPhone 'blue' indicators of iMessage.

Or recent changes in regional cell service, may require

an additional payment, or higher fees to facilitate this.

[In my area, the main cellular service no longer covers

its former region ~ unless premium levels are prepaid.]

In any event, if you're not on a Wi-Fi based internet, an

answer may be to try and use Cellular Data; if available.
