You can check your iOS version is up-to-date: Eg: iOS 16.5.1
About eSIM on iPhone - Apple Support says:
"Your iPhone needs to be connected to wi-fi"
You can check your carrier supports eSIM
Find wireless carriers and worldwide service providers that offer eSIM service - Apple Support
