I have not used my iMac for over a year and a half. I just got it up and running and there is a window that says "DrivePulse" is an app downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it?" I DO NOT want to open it. How to delete?

A window that says "'DrivePulse' is an app downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it? Safari downloaded the file on February 15, 2018. Cancel or Open."

I do not know anything about it.

I cannot get it off my screen.

How do I delete it?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

Thank you for responding. What you suggested was the first thing I tried, but the window kept popping up. It was part of an application (Drive Genius) that a friend (sadly, now deceased!) had installed to “help” me a few years ago, but I never used it and did not know why it was on my Mac. Anyway, getting rid of this pop up after Drive Genius was deleted entailed having to contact the company and request a free version of the whole enchilada so I could install the whole program and then correctly uninstall the whole program. That finally succeeded in getting g rid of the pop up.

Did you select Cancel? If macOS put up that dialog (because you ran the application), and you selected Cancel, macOS would refuse to run the application. You would get the dialog again if you tried to run the program again.

I wonder why the thing is starting up. Could it be that when you used the Mac last, this application was open and the Mac is automatically re-opening it? Or maybe the application is in the list of applications to launch whenever you log in. (Check Users & Groups Preferences and remove it from the list if you find it there.)

As far as killing it permanently, I'm guessing the main application file lives in your Applications folder and can be dragged to the Trash (after which you'd empty the Trash). You'd need to do this when it was not running.
