Unknown program that works in the background

I was cleaning my Mac to improve its performance. While checking the login items and extensions, I found an app that I previously used. It was supposed to be deleted, but it seems to still be present. Can someone help me remove it?

The apps don't contain any images. Yes, I was too reliant on app cleaners and uninstallers. I suppose I shouldn't be lazy and should check my Finder for trash :/

If you deleted the apps then they are not still on your device. What you're seeing is a view of a database in the OS where they were listed and the entries were not deleted when you trashed the apps. Without the apps they are nothing more than text on a page.

You have quite a lot of junk (TrendCleanerPro, CleanerOne Pro. two VPN apps: Cloudflare and TurboVPN) so the old rule applies:

Never install any app that claims to “clean up”, “tune up” or “speed up” your Mac. These apps exist for one reason: to extract money from the wallets of the inexperienced user. What they do can be done in other ways, and mostly what they do is unnecessary, but sounds good. Unfortunately in the hands of an inexperienced user they can do a lot of damage to a Mac OS installation. Avoid.

Get rid of the junk apps and then see how your performance improves.

This app is provided by a company called Nektony, so it will require searching on your computer for any name such as:

  • App Cleaner & Uninstaller
  • MacCleaner Pro
  • Nektony

Look in these folders for any file with that name:

  • Applications
  • Desktop
  • Downloads

If you cannot find it in those folders, another way to look for Applications on your computer is to hold the Option key and click the Apple Menu in the upper left corner and go to System Information. Choose the Applications tab in the sidebar and they will be listed alphabetically. If you see any of those names there, tap on it and the location of the app will show in the lower part of that page.

... and which of these did you want to completely remove?

Regardless, what have you tried, so far yourself, to remove it/them? ... other then use a "cleaner" app?

To help locate were these remnants may reside on your Mac, you should consider running an EtreCheck report, and optionally, post it here if you need assistance with interpreting its results.

Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder and enter

/Library/LaunchDaemons

Remove:

com.trendmicro.TrendCleanerPro.HelperTool.plist

Also, in your Application folder you still have the app CleanerOnePro that needs to be sent to the Trash and emptied. Hopefully that will improve your drive performance as it currently is not very good and causing your computer to run slow.

There are 2 Categories of Third Party Software / Services that are baffling to me.

Why some users insist on installing and using the below software.

In no special order

Commercial VPNs

They may not be what one believes they are doing for the computer and what they actually are doing behind the scenes

https://gist.github.com/joepie91/5a9909939e6ce7d09e29

Third Party Disk Cleaners / Optimizer

Any Third Party Applications that will interfere with the normal operation of the OS,  is an invitation for disaster.

Certain Applications maybe available on the Apple Apps Store - this only means the Developer is prepared to pay Apple a percentage on each sale.

What the Application may do to the computer is up to the User to check this out before purchase

To put the Third Party Disk Cleaner / Optimizer in context and the damages it may have or has already done.

This type of applications can or will Muck Up your User Account ( Home Folder ) of this machine.

It does not touch the Operating System itself unless you consider your User Account ( Home Folder ) as part of the Operating System.

The Operating System is hosed

Oops, I forgot to tell you which one to delete.

The first 2 items are the ones I need to delete. I've tried looking in the finder inside of my system. I'm not a computer geek, so my search is ineffective. I just scanned using an Etrecheck but it didn't find any kind of string related to the files.

Where should I send the etrecheck? here?
