Using iMac with Epson XP410 printer scanner to create a pdf. Preview only sees the document as one file, not text that can be selected. I have tried the files on a different computer running Ventura and preview works fine, sees text, can select. any suggestions

Apparently, "live text" is a feature added in Monterey.

What OS is your mac running? The ability to discern text in a scanned image is a fairly new feature. If your mac is running an older OS, it would explain why it does not work.
Monterey, just installed last week. It's an intel i5 processor and Monterey is the last update for this iMac.
Was this option just started with Ventura?
