I activated Apple TV on my phone but want it on my tv. What do I do next?

Select modern smart TVs may have support for the Apple TV app. It may either be pre-installed (Samsung, Vizio), or be available from the on-device App Store/Content Store/Channel Store (or however they name the manufacturer’s app repository).
Unsupported TVs may connect an external streaming device that supports the Apple TV app. That can be an Apple TV box, or Roku, Fire TV, Nvidia Shield, Xbox, PlayStation, ‘Chromecast with Google TV’ dongle, or select TV provider set-top boxes.
