How do I rearrange widgets in iPad Today View?

Hi, I’m using iPadOS version 16.5.1 (c) on an iPad 9th generation. In Today View, all of the widgets are automatically sticking to the left of the screen, no matter how many I add, and I have to keep scrolling down further and further to see them. This leaves a massive blank unoccupied space on the right that should be filling up, and I don’t understand why that’s not happening. Does anyone know how I can get widgets to start occupying the right side and form two or more columns in Today View? Thank you.

The slide-over Today View always occupies just the strip to the left of the screen. Presumably you wish to add Widgets to your Home screens.

iPhone and iPad features do in some circumstances differ. That said, the relative layout of the slide-over Today View is one that actually closely mirrors/replicates the iPhone’s much narrower screen presentation.

As suggested by IdrisSeabright, Apple does invite submission of constructive comment and feature requests via its Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:

Feedback - iPad - Apple

If you have any feedback that you would like Apple to see, this would be the most appropriate channel through which to direct your comments.

I know how to add widgets to the home screen and to Today View. I’ve been an iPhone user for four years. But this is my first iPad ever - a birthday gift. I’m just shocked that the logical and convenient way widgets populate the Today View on iPhone isn’t duplicated on iPad. I can’t imagine any reason for the entire Today View page to not be utilized. It’s absolutely counterintuitive. What benefit is derived from forcing the user to scroll down a small left-banked strip when there is all that empty space to use? I know . . . make a suggestion to Apple. Got it. Thanks for the reply.
