I’m trying to get messenger back on my Apple Watch

does not list the Apple Watch as a device that Messenger supports.

At best, Messenger notifications can be seen on the Apple Watch, the same as any other iPhone notifications, alerts and alarms can be seen on the Apple Watch.

Facebook Messenger for Apple Watch was discontinued on May 31st

Messenger was working fine on my watch…had to perform a password change….now messenger and instagram are missing on my watch
