SOLUTION: High Pitched Sound Right AirPod Pro (2nd Gen)

So I’ve been having an ongoing issue with my 2nd Generation Airpod Pros where if I adjusted the one on the right, while using transparency or noise cancellation mode, I’d hear a sharp high pitched chirp sound. Naturally, I had my AirPods and respective case looked at by my local Apple Store. They passed every audio test. After having them sent in to the Genius Bar multiple times, I was advised to run eartip fit tests for each size. Despite having a “good seal” for each test, I was still getting the annoying chirp sound.

I’ve since gone through more hands on troubleshooting and actually found a solution that I thought I’d share!

After playing around with them at home, I found that as silly as it sounds, I was getting the high pitched chirp sound entirely because of the way I attached the silicon tips on to my affected AirPod. This pretty hard to explain without photos but I’ll do my best.

SOLUTION:

Step 1: Remove silicone tips from your affected AirPod.

Step 2: For your affected AirPod, you’ll want to have it in a position where you have the black pill side face up.

Step 3: Finally, you’ll want to reattach the silicone tip in a way where from that view, instead of the tip completely covering the speaker, you can see a very faint line black line.

The fitment should feel natural in your ear and the black line should only be visible from that very specific, extreme angle.

This fixed my chirping AirPods, hope it does the same for yours. Cheers.

Perfect fix!

pop the ear tip off, clean out/blow out any debris, sweat, water, etc. pop it back. If it continues try the old rice trick to help absorbe any liquid you might not be able to get.

Turns out a little sweat got below the ear tip. I believe there’s a microphone in there to assist in the noise blocking/transparency feature. If this mic gets blocked or wet it’s screws up the system.
