I'm sorry to hear that you've forgotten your new MacBook password and are facing issues with your iCloud account. Let's go through the process step by step to help you reset your MacBook password and change your iCloud account:

Step 1: Resetting your MacBook Password

  1. Start by turning off your MacBook if it's currently on.
  2. Power it on again and immediately press and hold the "Command + R" keys on your keyboard. This will boot your MacBook into Recovery Mode.

Step 2: Accessing macOS Utilities

  1. Once in Recovery Mode, you should see a macOS Utilities window. Release the keys "Command + R" now.
  2. In the macOS Utilities window, select "Utilities" from the menu bar at the top and then choose "Terminal."

Step 3: Resetting the Password

In the Terminal window, type the following command and hit Enter:

resetpassword

  1. The "Reset Password" window will appear. Choose your hard drive (usually named "Macintosh HD") and then select your user account from the drop-down menu.
  2. Enter a new password for your account and confirm it. Optionally, you can also add a password hint to help you remember it in the future.
  3. Click "Save" to apply the new password.

Step 4: Restarting your MacBook

  1. Close the "Reset Password" window and restart your MacBook.
  2. Use the new password you just set to log in to your user account.

Now that you've regained access to your MacBook, let's proceed to change your iCloud account.

Step 5: Changing your iCloud Account on MacBook

  1. Click on the Apple menu () in the top-left corner of the screen and select "System Preferences."
  2. In the System Preferences window, click on "Apple ID."
  3. You will see your current iCloud account details. Click on the "Sign Out" button to remove the existing iCloud account from your MacBook.
  4. You'll be prompted to confirm that you want to sign out of your iCloud account. Make sure to select the option to keep a copy of your iCloud data on your Mac. This way, you won't lose any important data stored in your iCloud account.
  5. Once you've signed out of your existing iCloud account, you can sign in with a different one. Click on "Create Apple ID" or "Sign In" if you already have a new iCloud account to use.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your new iCloud account on your MacBook.
