My phone is frozen on the main screen where it says to slide to turn off but it won’t respond to my touch

It sounds like your iPhone is pretty well and stuck on that screen but we have a good idea of how to resolve this. The process we're going to recommend is called a "force restart" and more often than not, resolves exactly this type of issue. The steps are pretty straight forward and you can find them right here: Force restart iPhone
We've also copy and pasted them below to make it easy:
Force restart iPhone
1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
3. Press and hold the side button.
4. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.
