Want to see if there's any sort of benefit I can get from this (airpods)?

Bought a pair of airpods from a secondhand source. At the time of purchase, I had checked them and they were real (according to Apple's checker). However, I've come to realize that they were under warranty and whoever I bought them from replaced them, ergo making my pair a scam pair. One of the airpods has also stopped working. How would this affect repair or trade-in? Can I even trade them in? Or is it better to just forget about this pair and get a new one? Thanks!

I'm really sorry that happened to you. When a Apple replaces a device, or AirPods in this case, under warranty or AppleCare, the original pair becomes inactive and the new set becomes active. Usually the original pair has to be sent back in to Apple. However, sometimes with exceptions the original pair isn't required to be sent back in... however the original AirPods are still inactive. The warranty is automatically transferred to the new set, and the inactive (old set) no longer has warranty. Apple won't even step a repair on them because they're inactive.
