My Macbook has stopped recognising my USB-connected iPad

My M1 Macbook has stopped recognising my USB-connected iPad Pro. I have repeatedly restarted both devices, updated to the latest software, swapped cables, blown into the iPad USB socket to dislodge and foreign objects, etc., to no avail. The iPad charges via the cable but does not show up in finder.

iPad Pro, iPadOS 15
