I can’t top up my icoca with apple pay

Just had the same issue here in japan. Like all 5 of my credit cards were not working within my wallet to topping up my icoca card. After trying severlal things, i found out that the virtual Revolut MC is working. Funny enough all other MC are not working. Also no virtual Revolt Visa. So it is quite tricky!

foreign issue VISA and Mastercard are not currently working for adding money to Apple Pay ICOCA .

Amex cards are work or you can add JPY cash to the card at any station recharge kiosk or 7 Bank ATM.

The only non-jp credit card that works right now for adding money to Apple Pay ICOCA is AMEX.

Suica has the most non-JP payment card support.

I was experiencing the same. I have read from an answer in this thread that AMEX works so I tried yes I succesfully reloaded my ICOCA Card! I am outside of Japan, Visa and Mastercard wont go through…

i use Citi AA MC to top up ICOCO, has to go through the fraud dept. Using Cap 1 MC n regular AE always no issue to top up on any IC card

I’ve read that some cards can only be reloaded in Japan and I’ve also read here in the Community and other social media sites that one of the cards stopped accepting Visa cards. Have you contacted the icoca support team about your issue?

A community member here recently reported it may be due to recent changes in Japan using a new card security measure known as <3D Secure.> This adds an extra layer of security to online transactions. Many US banks have not fully adopted the new standard. Some cards may be enabled and some may not be. A call to the bank may resolve the issue.

MastCard seems the card most likely to work, followed by American Express. It seems some users have better luck during business hours in Japan. So if in the states, that may mean the middle of the night for you.

You’re the first in a longtime that has reported issues while in Japan and at a station.

No issue with Cap 1 MC n AE on all 3 IC card in the wallet

All worked fine for me recharging using Apple Pay for ICOCA until a few days ago when it suddenly stopped working on all devices. No explanation.

The PASMO card did not work for a month, and now suddenly started working for recharging.

I also having an issues topping up my ICOCA using apply pay. I thought is my VISA issues but it’s just not accepting. So I top up using the kiosk and kinda annoying to keep look for the kiosk for top up.

I keep trying to add money to my transit card in my apple wallet in Japan ICOCA. I have a US visa. I will try for days and hours...randomly it will add. Customer service at the stations says they have not heard of the issue. I have 3 people that are expereincing it.. it will add randomly,
