Mac Desktop - How do you set-up multiple desktop views

Hi - I am having issue setting up multiple desktop views. When I set a new view up it simply just mirrors my main desktop view. I would like to have multiple desktops for different uses. Does anyone know how to solve this?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.0
