I just switched from AT&T to T-Mobile and got the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Is it a good idea to install McAfee on my iPhone 14 Pro Max? I've never installed an anti-virus program on my phone.

Most antivirus apps for your iPhone aren't really designed to find viruses. They are often security programs that bundle multiple functions to justify the price asked. It is quite difficult for security software makers to make a really good antivirus app, because Apple has pretty much boarded up the system.
No, just practice good security measures. If you do, you don't need McAfee and it will, on occasion, interfere with other apps.
