Why is my screen resolution lower than the default?

I own a 2019 MBP 16" i9 5500m - I've had a kernel panic a few days ago when using Chrome. I have since moved from Catalina to Monterey to see if it helped. However, I had concerns that I've got a GPU issue as I logged into some previous software that warned me that using a resolution above my current settings could cause problems, however I thought I was running at "...3072‑by‑1920 native resolution at 226 pixels per inch with support for millions of colors"

When I now detect my resolution on various sites it tells me that I'm running at 1792 x 1120. However, in my settings resolution is set at "Default for Display".

Anyone know what's going on? Symptoms of something else?

*Updated* - Excuse my naivety, I believe this is correct for the size of my screen and having read a few other posts I understand the default is actually 1792 x 1120 on the 16" screen.

Thanks

FWIW, all Macs with retina screens default to a resolution lower than the screens native resolution. At native resolutions, no one could read the screens. Well, not without a great deal of difficulty. 😳

Why is my screen resolution lower than the default?
