Location Privacy is broken after installing 13.5 update

Apps no longer show up under Location Services under Privacy and Security after installing 13.5 update.

As a result users are unable to edit location permissions or see what apps have location access.

If a new app tries to request location services, it doesn’t show in System Settings so it’s impossible to enable it. Hopefully macOS 13.5.1 will address that issue.

Why is that answer still marked as “Best answer” when it’s clearly false information.

“macOS Ventura 13.5.1 fixes an issue in System Settings that prevents location permissions from appearing.”

The Only Entity of Apple on there forums are the Apple Moderators

They work behind the scenes doing exactly that - moderating the forums.

IMHO - There has been sufficient advise offered for the User ( you ) to make an informed and educated choice what remedial actions are available to lodge their displease with this Feature change.

The suggestions have been put forth on a volunteer basis, in good faith and in the best interests of the computer.

Pretty sweet feature, thanks Apple! Now that I've purchased and updated my new macbook pro I cannot watch Hulu on it due to needing to grant Chrome access to Location Services.

After reading the comments it looks like its possible to fix this by disabling SIP, but that shouldn't be the expectation for the common user. Get a fix in place!

Guess I will need to think twice before updating to the next available OS.

What factors allowed that post to be chosen as best answer? Is it just how many people clicked "Helpful"?

The original poster is in complete control of that. When you create a thread, you get to pick one "Best Answer" and two "Helpfuls". However, lots of people who are new to the forums (and some who aren't) don't quite understand how it works. Sometimes, you'll see people mark their own "Please why has no one answered me!?!" posts as "Best answer".

Sometimes you will see an "Apple recommended" answer. Those are chosen by the Hosts (Apple employees) in situations where the original poster hasn't selected a "Best Answer". I believe they base the choice on reading the answers and deciding which one best answers the question and does it in the way that reflects how Apple thinks it should be answered.

Your response, P. Phillips, is a bit hard to understand. It sounded like a reprimand, but I'm sure that was unintentional.

I find that I enjoy this site more if I keep in mind that community members come from a wide range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. And, with the exception of the people pasting in answers from ChatGPT whose motives I've yet to discern, most people here are genuinely trying to help.

Interesting. How do you identify the ChatGTP posts?

And, unfortunately, many of the litany of choices can be wrong or misleading, something that can be hard to identify if you are not familiar with the topic. For example, someone posting copypasta from a ChatGPT in response to a question on how to activate the cellular feature on an Apple Watch, stated that Apple Watches can have physical SIM cards or eSIM cards. Cellular Apple Watches have only ever used eSIMs.

Another giveaway is if the post says anything about "my knowledge doesn't extend past September 2021".

Also, I've never seen them respond to requests to clarify or provide additional information.
