How to completely disable "Hide My Email"?

I want to completely disable "Hide My Email". I do not want to hide my email, ever. And the Hide My Email functionality prevents me from inserting my real email.

Please note I do NOT want to know how to add, change or delete a Hide My Email address. I want to completely disable Hide My Email on all my devices forever. It is an appalling, intrusive implementation.

Don't get hung up on Docusign - I just took used the first example I could find to show the person who responded "that doesn't happen" when, clearly, it does.

And unfortunately your answer doesn't help either. As per the screenshot, iOS is recognising the field as an email address, as it's displaying the Hide My Email option. What it's not doing is offering me the option to insert my email address. This isn't a website configuration issue.

As I said, "Please note I do NOT want to know how to add, change or delete a Hide My Email address."

The approach you describe DOES NOT WORK. I have deactivated all Hide My Email addresses and the behaviour persists: I tap on an email address field and the only option that appears is Hide My Email - I am not able to insert my own email address, so I have to enter it manually. This behaviour is not consistent but happens about half the time. See screenshot below - no option to insert my email, only Hide My Email.

Data detectors aren't "on" web pages. You seem to be referring to HTML elements (e.g. <input type="email">) and attributes. And I'd be astonished if Safari / iOS doesn't just read them directly.

Here's a screenshot of the same page on a different device, where the element is being detected and Safari is correctly offering both email address and Hide My Email options:

Please don't respond again, this isn't getting us anywhere.

Yes it does. About half the time when I tap on an email address field in Safari, the only option I get is Hide My Email. I am not able to insert my email address and have to type it in manually. I have seen this behaviour hundreds of times and it's extremely irritating so maybe don't comment if you don't know what you're talking about?

Since you used DocuSign as an example, I simply showed you that on a device without Hide My Email, if does not give you the email suggestion that you are expecting. The behavior IS dependent on the website as the suggestions use Data Detectors to determine what to suggest. Giving examples of a website that does not give you the email option using Hide My Email and comparing that to a device that does not have Hide My Email is the only way you will be able to confirm that it is an issue with Hide My Email.

I have a device that does not have Hide My Email and another one that does have it and there is no difference between the two on any site I have gone to. If you show me a screenshot of a website where it is not working, I am happy to go to that site on my device without Hide My Email to show you that it makes no difference.

The email suggestions rely on Data Detectors on the web page and looks for keywords for the suggestions. In the case of DocuSign, they use "Email *" with the asterisk for input, which may not show the suggestion as a site that simply has "Email" without the asterisk. The Data Detectors suggest name when the field says "Name" and suggests address when the field shows "Address".

Yep, that's the expected behaviour. But about half the time there is no option to insert your email. See other answers for an example screenshot.

Okay, instead of arguing about various options let’s get back to your original question, “How to completely disable “Hide My Email”?"

The simple answer is... you can’t. Does this thread need to go on?

Use of Hide My Email is entirely optional - and is only available to customers that have an active iCloud+ subscription. Where available, this feature don’t have to be used at all.

Insofar as is possible to disable Hide My Email, you will need to manually delete/deactivate all Hide My Email addresses that you may have created - the process to remove each Hide My Email address being straightforward:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > iCloud > Hide My Email >

For each of your listed Hide My Email addresses - tap, then select Deactivate Email Address

Is this a website for which you have previously saved your login credentials? The screenshot you're showing looks like what I see when I have not yet saved the credentials for a website. In that case, yes, you may need to type in your email manually. I believe it may have something to do with how the website is constructed.

You just proved the point the Hide My Email does not stop the email suggestions. Your claim is that Hide My Email does not allow the email suggestions and there has not been a screen shot where that is true. The screen shots provided have shown the same behavior on devices that do not have Hide My Email.

The answer to your question of "How to completely disable Hide My Email" is that you cannot with the iCloud+ subscription. The reason for wanting to do that has not been shown to be valid. The way to do that is to show a site on a device without Hide My Email that shows the email suggestion, and then one with Hide My Email that does not show the suggestion.
