I bought a magic keyboard with numeric keypad
for my iMac Retina 5k, 27 inch 2017 about 3 months ago. Recently the numeric keypad numeral keys stopped working (the math function keys work fine). How to troubleshoot?

Part of your problem is having Symantec Antivirus installed. At best it is 100% worthless and at worst it will cause buggy behavior much like you are experiencing now, cause the computer to run slow and offers NOTHING in return. It does not improve security of your computer in ANY fashion. Pslease locate the uninstall instructions and then execute them and then restart the computer in Safe Mode and retest.
To keep your Mac secure please keep Mac OS up-to-date and restart the computer about 1x every 2 weeks. Other than that please leave Mac OS alone.
