I run a small tutorial school and some of the parents have requested that their children not appear in videos. How do I use Pixellate for an entire video on one or more people? Do I need a plugin or is there a way to make the native effect work? Thank you!

You can certainly use the built-in Censor effect to pixellate, but it will need work on your part, to either track, or manually keyframe.
There are certainly other options, but all require some editing work. How much work depends on the footage.
Thank you for your reply. We are looking for something simple for a small audience and don't have the time to spend editing out each instance of a child's face. The only other option is to cut out all of the photos and videos that certain children are in.
I guess we were hoping and praying that an AI-based plugin could use facial recognition to pixellate the faces of certain students once identified.
I'm not averse to editing, but this might be a bit much for such a small audience. If there is no workaround, we may have to cut them out. :(
As your video is probably not a short one it would take a ridiculous amount of work because of some awkward parents.
A few years ago nobody would have dreamt of obscuring faces on videos etc. and I bet all the parents who object probably have their kids faces plastered all over social media.
Society has got itself into a really sad paranoid state. Let's hope that like all other things in the past the pendulum will eventually swing back to some form of normality.
I hear you. It's a shame because the kids had a great time and we would love to share with parents and kids as a lasting memory. But perhaps the tools we are searching for are the reason for parents to be so scared? Some things are a blessing and a curse. :(
Wouldn't it be possible to talk to the parents and explain the difficulty they have put you in.
A miracle might happen and make them see sense . . . or maybe not.
Where is the video going to be displayed?
If it's on YouTube you can make it "unlisted" so only people with the link can view it.
Thanks for that input. Talking with the parents is on our list, but we were hoping to send them one video with the pixellation and one without. Being Japanese, they would probably get the hint if we added a little text about how we struggled a bit but wanted to leave the kids with a memory.
If we can't figure out an easy way, we'll delete any photos and videos of them and send it anyways with the same hope that they will figure it out. :)
I do get the privacy issues, so there are no hard feelings. But it does make it more challenging for us to give our students and parents the best service.
