How to split payment for AppleCare+ for macbook using Apple gift card and credit card?

I recently got a macbook and has past the free 7 day AppleCare+ and is within 30 days. I would like to extend the 3 year AppleCare+.

The 3 year AppleCare+ for macbook is $329. I have an Apple gift card of $306.50 and would like to pay the remaining balance of $329-$306.50 = $22.50 using credit card.

Following the online instruction by going to System Settings> General>About than click Add in AppleCare+

There are no options to pay by Apple gift card. Only Apple pay and credit card.

How do I go about splitting the payment via Apple gift card and credit card?

Do I have to redeem the Apple gift card in App Store?

Then the system would display different payment options?

I don't want to redeem in App Store only to realise I can't use that amount for AppleCare+

At this moment when writing this post, this link on what one can do with Apple Gift Card does not mention AppleCare+

I ended up going to the AppleStore to get this done.

They require serial number of the macbook to get this done.

Using their system, the payment can be split between Apple Gift card and remaining balance with other payments, in my case using credit card.
