Power button on Apple TV remote popping out

The power button on the remote for Apple TV is popping out and no matter what I do to place it back in the slot it does not stay there

Apple TV 4K (3rd generation)

Can the button be glued on or will the glue interfere with the contact? My on-off button falls out, too. I ordered a new one, but would like to keep this as backup.

sounds like a physical defect, if it was me then I would replace it with a new remote, or just use the stand by option in settings to turn off the device
