Power button on Apple TV remote popping out

I had success using the tiniest amount of Superglue. I applied an amount that I could hardly see to the center of the button cap using the point of a safety pin. I was afraid that any extra at all could drip into the mechanism and make the button inoperative. A day later the cap is still attached.

sounds like a physical defect, if it was me then I would replace it with a new remote, or just use the stand by option in settings to turn off the device

Can the button be glued on or will the glue interfere with the contact? My on-off button falls out, too. I ordered a new one, but would like to keep this as backup.
