when people send texts, family is telling me that is says “ notification silenced”. I’ve checked focus and I have nothing on. I checked my iPad and it’s not on a focus mode. How can I fix this??
Turn off all focus (DND, Driving, Work, Sleep, Personal, Any other). Open the Control center and see if this helps.
And then turn back the only Focus that you need.

SMS and iMessage notifications settings are not different. However, if the recipient has enabled Hide Alerts for a specific message thread then there won't be any sound irrespective of DND

It's simple to fix.
Again,
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Focus > Toggle Messages Off
I see no such setting under Sounds and Haptics. The solution I gave works great. Settings> Privacy & Security > Focus > Toggle messages off.
This is different from Settings > Focus.
