Can't connect to Apple Servers

I want to wipe a macbook in my possession as I want to return it clean.

I cannot sign out of my 'apple id' account as that's supposedly a prequisite to using the reset feature I'm hard stuck.

When attempting to sign out, the macbook fails to 'authenticate' with Apple servers, including a 7005 error

Even simply trying to disable 'find my mac' returns 'There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server' so I can't do anything on my mac related to cleaning/resetting it.

Is there any way to just force the reset past all the account stuff? Yes, I have tried Safe mode, multiple networks, multiple restarts, iCloud successfully signed out but the other parts of the account are broken and/or stuck.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.5

You do not say what exact Mac is this...not all Macs support the erase feature..

Use Erase All Content and Settings

This feature requires Monterey or later and a Mac with Apple silicon or the Apple T2 Security Chip.

For people having trouble with iphones thot “can’t connect to the server” the culprit in my case was the advanced settings in Safari. I turned them all off and my problem was solved. To do so, I went to settings, then Safari, then “advanced”and then to “Experimental Features”. I turned them all off and the problem went away!! SHAME ON Apple FOR LARDING OUR IPHONES UP WITH 173 FEATURES IN THIS CATEGORY. The standard setting enables about 90 of these and each and every one of these features taxes the **** out of the iphone and plays havoc with trying to connect to the ATT server!!
