Cannot connect to the Apple ID Server while trying to reset the password on a MacBook

I have not used an older MacBook in a while and forgot the password. I want to reset my password with the Recovery Assistant but it is not connecting to the Internet when trying to confirm my Apple ID. I get the error message "There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server."

MacBook Pro (2017 – 2020)

I am afraid it will be difficult to Reset your password without erasing your Mac in this way.. if it keeps not connecting to the Apple ID server when your MacBook is connected to a wifi network (if it is not connected to a wifi network, connect first using the wifi logo in the top right when booting from safe mode)
