Search Messages by Date

Is there a way to search messages by date? I found an earlier post saying you could do this on a Mac by typing "kind:message created:" with the date in Spotlight. However, this only works for me for the last three days. I am trying to find texts from 2022, and nothing shows up when I enter those dates or anything prior to a few days ago.

Does the Spotlight search only work for very recent texts, or is there something I need to do to fix that? If not, is there any other way for me to find texts from a specific date in 2022 without scrolling back through individual conversations?

Hello M-K-M,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. The option to search for a conversation thread by a specific date is unavailable. In the Messages app, you can use the search criteria to search for a specific text, items in images and more. Here's an article with more information: Search for a conversation in Messages on Mac - Apple Support

Kind regards.

The only way I have personally been able to find a specific date for messages on iPhone (no Mac or finder) in the past and it works for iMessages and regular texts.. go to the messages app and go to the search if you can either remember an entire text either you or the other person has sent on that specific date and/or a specific keyword that will bring up any texts with regardless of date or person.. (it won’t work if you type the date, nor will it work if you have half of the word used as it can pull up more texts than needed vs if you typed in the full word ex: let’s say you are looking for the word streak if you only type stre it would pull up texts containing stre, if there are any texts that contain the word street in any of your messages it would pull the texts that contained street first as it would correlate the word street being the text you are looking for first)… I have found old texts by typing in words dating back to like 2017-2018 before.. so it definitely works! I hope this helps someone in the future or even the person who created the post
