Can't check Voice Isolation in FCP 10.6.7, other issues with Viewer freezing up

I recently updated to FCP 10.6.7 and noticed my viewer was behaving oddly. It became unresponsive and froze several times. Searched online and found that trashing preferences could solve the problem. Did that and it seemed to work. As I resumed editing the project I'd been working on, I tried to check the box next to Voice Isolation to filter some audio clips and couldn't do it.

My workaround was to go back to an audio clip where I had checked Voice Isolation before trashing the preferences, copy it and paste audio attributes into that clip. It worked.

Anyone else noticing other problems since the update to 10.6.7?

The final answer on this issue was something I discovered while on hold with Apple support (again). If I clicked Show Audio Enhancements on and off once, Voice Isolation was again checkable and worked. The question now is, do we dare go to 10.6.8? If it's working ok, I'd rather not go through the process of backtracking to an older version if it's not necessary.

Are you sure the audio is a single component?

From Enhance audio in Final Cut Pro for Mac - Apple Support

"Important: Audio enhancement works on the component level, not the clip level. If your audio clip has more than one audio component (for example, a dual mono clip), select an individual component, then proceed with the enhancements."

Based on all the other threads here about problems with 10.6.7, you might consider reverting back to 10.6.5 or 10.6.6 from your backups. You can first export an XML of what you're working on now, then import than into an empty library from 10.6.5 or 10.6.6.

No, I'm cautious and perpetually mid-project so still on 10.6.5. I have seen others experience Voice Isolation being uncheckable if more than one component is selected which is why I brought it up, just in case.

10.6.8 does not force you to update the libraries from 10.6.7, so in principle you can test 10.6.8, and keep a zipped copy of 10.6.7 just in case.

Yes, first thing I tried as noted in my first post. I have moved to 10.6.8 today and it seems to be behaving well. No issues I can see so far, but it's only been a few hours.

What exactly happened when you tried to apply Voice Isolation? Can you post screenshots?

The Viewer freezing problem is the subject of many threads since 6.7 was release. Your best solution for the time being is to revert to a previous version if you can.

Spent some time with Apple support. No solution worked. I've gone back to other projects I did before the update and find that clips where I have Voice Isolation checked will not uncheck now with the latest FCP version. Have gone through most of the normal steps (restarting, rebooting, new project).

Not sure a screenshot will help. It looks like the regular screen with an unchecked box next to "Voice Isolation." Simply can't check it.

Yes, single component. I use Voice Isolation all the time. Apple support did a screen share and verified those settings are correct.

The issues with Voice Isolation continue with the project I'm working on. Plus, viewer now freezing again, so having to trash preferences again to get going.
