Purchased songs not downloading

For the last couple of months when I buy songs from the iTunes Store they don’t always download so are not in my library.

My phone is up to date with version 16.6 but when I try to download the tune it starts the process but then just stops and says it still needs to download. I have enough free space so don’t understand why this has just suddenly started to happen.

In addition I have just tried to purchase another song and although it has taken my money it hasn’t been downloaded

Thank you for your reply, but I have tried that multiple times and although at one point it says it has downloaded, the cloud icon comes back and the song does not show in my library.

I bought the first 18 singles for the new Peter Gabriel album I/O before I figured out the bright side mixes and dark side mixes were not remixes of songs on the album but are the actual songs. I did not purchase the last 6 singles as I decided to wait and purchase the album. I never preordered the album then got notification it had released and was asked if I wanted to complete my album. I clicked yes and now tracks 1-9 the dark side mixes show purchased but they won’t download and they are not in my purchase history and Apple support keeps telling me I bought the album even though it’s not in my purchases. So once Apple Music thinks you purchased something you can never repurchase it’s so screwed up.
