I want to upgrade my MacOS from version high Sierra to Catalina. However, after I have downloaded MacOS Catalina, the set up cannot go through. For it said that my computer is encrypted. How to solve this issue so that I can install MacOS Catalina?
It seems like filevault is active on your computer
You will need to turn off filevault, for this you'll need your file vault password

And unless I’m mistaken, he only needs his Adminstrator password.
(i.e. NOT the File Vault Recovery Key)
Did you buy the computer new or as a pre-owned device?
Did the encrypted message mention the type of encryption, like FileVault? Something else?
OP is running High Sierra so will be looking for Apple menu > System Preferences,
