My MacOS cannot be upgraded to Catalina because it is encrypted. What should I do?

I want to upgrade my MacOS from version high Sierra to Catalina. However, after I have downloaded MacOS Catalina, the set up cannot go through. For it said that my computer is encrypted. How to solve this issue so that I can install MacOS Catalina?

It seems like filevault is active on your computer

You will need to turn off filevault, for this you'll need your file vault password

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, click Privacy & Security  in the sidebar, then go to FileVault. (You may need to scroll down.)
  2. Click Turn Off.
  3. Click Turn Off Encryption.
