If I remove my email account and then add it back in, will all my saved emails be restored?

I am having issues with my mail program server accepting my current password or my attempts to reset a new password. My account is handled thru Yahoo/ATT.

My software is El Capitan 10.11.6

if you set it up and you can read these emails form multiple readers, like your iPhone and your Mac, then it will be IMAP connection. with IMAP connection messages are saved on the server, and only downloaded temporarily to be read or dealt with. if your connection is IMAP, there is no penalty for deleting your account and creating it again.

If your connection is POP, emails are downloaded to your Mac to deal with and are not kept on the server. if POP, messages may be lost from deleting and re-creating.
