Select TV provider set-top boxes from Xfinity (X1, Flex) support the Apple TV+ app. You can use that app to access content from your Apple TV+ subscription. It would also have FNB games (included with Apple TV+), and offer MLS (separate subscription). This app on this device won’t help you with other content.

For the full Apple TV app (including iTunes Store movies for buy or rent, including select in-app third party channels [2] by separate subscriptions), that would be supported on different devices: Possibly on your smart TV, possibly on a different external streaming device; including on the Apple TV box and select third party devices.

Alternatively, for streaming from your iPhone to your TV using AirPlay, you will need an AirPlay receiving device. That can be select smart TVs, an Apple TV box, or Roku device.

The Apple TV box is my preferred way to access any type of content on TV. There is even an Xfinity Stream app for the Apple TV box, so it can act more like an all-in-one device for your TV needs, with all the familiarities of iPhone. For me, it replaces both the smart TV features and the TV provider box.
