MacOS 13.5 universal control losing connection with macbook closed

I have an M1 MacBook pro with magic mouse and keyboard connected. I also have an intel macbook pro (last model before apple silicon). Both machines are connected to a 49" samsung ultrawide. Both machines are typically closed as I use the Samsung display as my monitor.

Ever since the 13.5 update, my intel mac is losing universal control connection, shortly after the macbook is closed. If I leave the macbook open, my universal control works as expected. This is a temporary fix but not a permanent fix as the resolution seems to mirror the macbook screen meaning I don't take full advantage of the external display real estate.

I'm thinking this is a bug? Anyone else seeing a similar experience?

Thank you in advance!

Hi unchris12,

Since this is only happening on your Intel Mac, let's try starting to safe mode to see if the behavior persists there:

Use safe mode on your Mac

If you have another user account, also test using the other user.
