New Apple Watch connected to random I’d

So recently I bought a brand-new Apple Watch Series 6 Nike 44 mm. It was sealed brand-new when I came to setting it up. At the end of the process. It asked me to log into a random Apple ID account so that I could view messages and there was no option to choose not Apple ID. It seems that the watch is already connected to another Apple ID was an iCloud locked and that person just asked for login in order to use messages. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if anyone has a fix to this

Activation Lock is designed to prevent anyone else from using an Apple Watch if it's ever lost or stolen.

About Activation Lock on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Activation Lock is an anti-theft feature that cannot be bypassed. Only the previous owner can remove the lock by using their Apple ID & password. Apple will not help you find the previous owner. If the previous owner cannot or will not remove the lock, then the watch is useless to you or anyone else. Try to get a refund (from where you bought it) or dispose of the watch properly. In the future, see the 'Before you buy a watch from a third-party' section in:

What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Apple Watch, or buy one from someone else - Apple Support

If you are the ORIGINAL owner, then also nee the 'Start a support request' section in:

if you can't get a refund or exchange.
