Bought Macbook air 13 M2, brand new with 0% battery.

Hey guys, today I have bought my new air 13 m2, brand new. Opened from the box, tried to run and nothing, plugged the cable and it run, but it had 0% from the start. I did read some articles about it that if it was way to long discharged, it could damage the battery life in future time.

I also saw comments that diagnostics won't ussualy detect something at all. Anyways, I did charger it to 100% and everything seems fine for now. When i boguht my other macbook m1 back in time, it came with some % battery, not 0.

So I want some real opinions, should I worry or not. I have 30 days option to return without questions etc, but i did bought on a promo price, so ofcourse if i return it i won't be able to buy it on same price again soon.

So should i keep it like that when there are no issues or return it? Maybe some pro apple user can tell their opinions.

If its battery health is "normal" then I would not be concerned: Get help with your Mac laptop battery - Apple Support. Letting the battery discharge to 0% just once isn't going to hurt anything. Leaving it in that state for a very long time (months) is a different story.

So guys it's been around 2 weeks i think, I decided to return my laptop today, as i had 30 days right.

I noticed that the battery went down faster than my 2 years old Macbook air M1, which is kinda not ok lol.

So just here to say, if you ever get macbook with 0% brand new, you better go return it if you can and re-order new one. Better do that than ... regret later. So simple that, thanks to everyone who replied here.

You really cannot draw any long-term conclusions based on how quickly a battery's capacity changes. It might drop precipitously from 100% to 95% (for example) only to stay at 95% for a long time. It might even go up a percent or two between charge cycles.

Of course the long term trend is down, but that eventual decrease in battery capacity does not occur as a linear function.

I do not disagree with your decision to return it within the vendor's return period. 30 days implies it was Amazon or some other big box retailer, so why not take advantage of it. If you want to be certain you are not buying a Mac that has been sitting in inventory for a while, buy directly from Apple.

It's not possible to buy directly from Apple, as I am in Bulgaria. I did buy it from Emag Bulgaria though, like my previous MAC. Previous one was OK.

I forgot to add that when it came with 0% battery i did check manufacture date, it was from 1 month after official release of the Macbook Air M2, so for sure it did stay in the inventory for a lot of time.
