Blocked Junk Mail Doesn't Go to Trash as Settings Require

When I use Settings/Preferences to Block incoming Junk emails, it includes the option of sending the email directly to Trash. Even though I set it that way, the Blocked Junk emails stay in the Junk folder, but are marked with the Blocked symbol.

This may seem like a small thing, but I have been inundated with incoming Junk in recent weeks, some of which does not allow it to be safely unsubscribed (they want too much information). So, I Block it. Functioning as Apple's settings specify would greatly reduce the amount of Junk I must sort through each day, and helps me not miss something important that was inadvertently sorted as Junk.

I have two questions:

1) Why do I continue to receive Blocked emails at all (even though they do have the Blocked symbol)?

2) Why don't Blocked Junk emails go directly to Trash as the Settings specify they should?

I am running Monterey macOS 12.6.7 on a late 2015 iMac.

Working as specified would greatly reduce my chances of missing important emails which are inadvertently sent to the Junk file.

I still haven't found a resolution to this problem, and the comments above indicate others haven't either. And no response from Apple Support to my separate report, either.

Still makes no sense. I block spam emails, and they still show up in my Spam mailbox, while showing their "Blocked" symbol. If they are blocked, then why do they still show up? Yes, the "Blocked" symbol does make it a bit easier to sort them away from what could be legitimate emails mis-assigned to Spam, but doesn't make sense.

And I am still set up in Mail settings to send Blocked emails automatically to Trash. This never happens.

Since it has been a while since I first posted this problem, and others seem to have it too, I thought I would bring it up again in case someone has figured out the answer to this problem.

Will appreciate your comments.

Agreed on your above points

Though, knowing now what and how it actually does work - suggest revamping ones' mind set

Even in macOS 13 Ventura the same UI wording exists and performs as perviously outlined

Not you your liking and not a flippant suggestion, really

Then have a few suggestions ;

1 - Get Support Choose a product and we’ll find you the best solution.Start now and open an Apple Support Ticket as they are Apple Employees to deal will these types of issues .

2 - Product Feedback - Apple and make it known to Apple regarding this ongoing issue

It is very misleading. Why even have a "blocked" category since you can label any email as junk anyway.

Agreed 👍 on your first point above.

Point 2 - so you have the choice to Block the sender from any further effort apart from the Misleading Wording in the UI

The Blocked will Sync across all devices using the same Apple ID

This might be because the wording is slightly misleading.

There are times we mark as Blocked in error.

Then we change our mind or realize we made an error.

Odd at it seems, it does happen.

We still have the chance to recovery from this boo-boo as apposed to totally loosing an important e-Mail

At least that is how I read this
