how to restore OSX on a 2012 macbook pro when the apple id has two factor authentication on?

It keeps telling me that my apple id password is wrong, but I get the verification code on my iPhone, but there is no prompt on the laptop to introduce it.

trying to login on an older iMac and it will not pop up the six-number code box for the two factor verification I try to login to itunes or icloud on my iMac and it will not show the two factor authentication box to enter the code. It tells me I need the verification code...but no place to enter it! :(

two factor authentication problem After reinstalling osx Monterey my MacBook asked me to sign in to my Apple ID - All fine. Then next day it says I need to sign in again to get more services to work. I try to sign in and it says it will send a code to one of my other two devices and no code arrives. The resend code/did not receive code option has gone, logging into iCloud no option to resend code there either. so I signed out to see if that would kick start things and the same happened again, no code and no option to resend. Apple stuff used to just work, what has gone wrong!!! The reason I had to reinstall was because I booted from an external drive with Ventura on and after that my MacBook was bricked!

Enter the password followed immediately by the code, e.g. password123456.
