Apple Watch lifespan

I am curious on the average lifespan of an Apple Watch typically? I purchased my first Apple Watch exactly a year ago and I was wearing it and looked down and the face of the watch had come loose. The Apple Store said they cannot repair it I even contacted other repair places and they won’t repair it either. I’m kind of upset that my watch that was still in almost perfect condition the face of the watch just came loose for no reason. I loved my watch but I don’t want to spend another few hundred dollars on another watch if they only last a year. I was expecting to have this watch for at least a couple years if not longer. Is it even worth it to buy another one?

As a guide, my former Series 3 is now about 6 years old. Last time I spoke to my sister it was still working well.


I don't understand why Apple would refuse service. Apple Watch Series 3 is still supported, and if you go to (link) Apple Watch Service & Repair - Apple Support you should be able to generate an estimate, and arrange a repair (most likely to be a service exchange watch).


However, the most common cause for the screen breaking away from the watch body was a failed and swollen battery, so it is possible the service rejection might be because with the total cost of two defects you would get a better deal by buying a new Apple Watch. If that is the case Apple Watch SE could be a good choice with similar but slightly improved specification.
