My wife's iPhone suddenly asks for a 6 digit passcode. We have never set up a 6 digit passcode on this phone. Now we are locked out fo her phone and since we don't know of any passcode we don't know what to enter.
Restarted the phone, but still needs a 6 digit passcode to unlock the phone.
What is going on here? She was playing Pokemon Go, switched off the phone and suddenly this happened.
It is an iPhone SE 2020. Please help!

A very old backup. So I would prefer a solution that does not mean she loses everything from the last few months.
I don't understand how this can happen. Does Apple just lock other people's phone like this?
Unfortunately without a recent backup, everything will be lost. If the phone is disabled, it is already too late to save anything. It is too difficult to say what happened here. Apple does not lock anyone’s phone like this or in any other way.
I changed from an X to a 14 and after switching the X now all of a sudden requires a 6 digit code which never used, only 4 digit. Now cannot even open the X to give to my mom. What gives and why does Apple do this when you are upgrading to newer model??
