Image Capture Not Showing All Pictures on iPhone as Available to Import
Hello everyone,
I'll try to describe this issue as simply as I can. I take move-in and move-out pictures for property management. I have found over the years that the best camera for this has always been an iPhone because of the HDR and how quickly you can take pictures (we have to capture a lot of different shots). Historically, I never had issues getting these pictures imported to Dropbox folders using Image Capture on my pre-Ventura, Intel-based Macbook Pros and iMacs. Image Capture would show every photo I took that day, and I would select my destination folder and be off. In testing, this even worked with iPhones using iCloud Photos with Optimize Storage enabled.
Fast forward to this year, I am using an iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro, and my new computer is a 2020 M1 Macbook Pro 13-Inch. iPhones are on iOS 16.6 (latest version) and the Macbook is on Ventura 13.5 (latest version). The iPhones are not connected to cellular or iCloud.
For some reason, neither Image Capture nor the Photos app will show all the photos that are on the iPhones as available to import. For example, today I have 510 pictures on one of the iPhones. Image Capture and Photos will only show 260 as available to import. Restarting devices does not affect anything. Here's where it gets bizarre... the only way to get Image Capture or the Photos app to show every photo is by swiping through each picture one-by-one on the iPhone. As I swipe, I see the number of photos available to import slowly tick up. This takes forever, but it's the only way I've been able to complete my work.
I'll be getting busier and 500 photos will soon turn into 1,500. I can't be scrolling through each one just to get these darn photos on my computer. iCloud syncing is also ruled out because of the slow data speeds in the area and slow WiFi at my hotel (this is traveling work).
Does anyone know what's going on or have a solution. Thank you!
