Updating/Restoring iPad via iTunes on PC, iPad switches off midway through the download, and then receiving a "Network Connection Timeout" error

I restarted my iPad when the screen was twitching, but after restarting it, it just showed a blinking Apple logo.


Following advice on the internet, I tried to hard restart, and now it's on the "support.apple.com/ipad/restore" screen. I'm on PC, so I installed iTunes to fix the update. I tried Restoring and Updating the iPad, but wjen the download finishes (around 6 GB), the iPad "switches off" and goes back to the blinking Apple logo, and iTunes shows the following error message:


"There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad "iPad". The network connection timed out.

Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later."


I'm sure it's not my internet connect because it's fine. It's quite frustrating because I try doing the process again, and it goes back to 0 MB. In short, I never finished downloading and installing the update. I've been trying to finish the process for some time now.


Any advice?

Presumably your iPad indicates that it must be restored:

You may already have tried some or all of the following - but to ensure that you are following the correct process…

You’ll need access to either a Windows PC (with iTunes for Windows installed) or a Mac (with iTunes or Finder - as appropriate for the installed version of macOS).

Update to the latest version of iTunes – Apple Support


Use of a PC or Mac computer is unavoidable. If you don’t have access to a suitable computer of your own, that of a helpful friend or family member will suffice. Alternatively, the technicians at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) will be delighted to assist.

You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively, if you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

Thanks for the response.


However, I've already followed the steps mentioned. The issue is that after clicking the button for 'Update' or 'Restore iPad...' on iTunes on PC, and after downloading up to 6GB worth of update, the iPad goes back to the blinking apple logo, and then iTunes displays the network connection error message described above.


Anything else that can point me to the right direction?
