"Your apple id has been disabled for security reasons"

For some reason I keep getting this error message everytime I try to access iTunes on my ipod touch and on my computer (I'm using a Mac, not my dell laptop). I have tried to change my id to a second email account I have and that worked for a day, but now I started getting the error message again and can't use iTunes at all. I have not had any problems with passwords or logging in previously, so I can't think of another reason why there would be a security issue with my account.

Any idea what happened and, most importantly, how to fix it?

Thanks!!

Someone, not necessarily you, entered the wrong password repeatedly. You need to reset it.

I am having similar problems but not getting any help whatsoever from Apple's support, it is very frustrating.

I queried a bill back in December and since then my account has been disabled. I have emailed the support 4 times without help, and also been on the support chat function (again with no help).

I have reset my password twice and I have even changed my debit card details on the account but still my account is disabled.

I basically cannot update my apps on my phone.

Any help on this would be most appreciated.

Regards

Anthony

I also got "Your Apple ID has been disabled" message when I tried to install a free app. This was less than an hour after I filed a Paypal dispute (for refund) for an app that they advertised as working with iOS 3.1 and later. I learned later from the developer (after I e-mailed him when the app didn't work) that the app is for iOS 3.2 and later.

Now, that's mean isn't it? Disabling a client's Apple ID/account because the client dared to question/challenge a wrongful sale?

Same with me. I had just disputed a fraudulent charge to my bank account, when my Apple ID was disabled. All attempts to email support (5 times so far) have not been answered.

I, too, reset my password, and re-linked the account to my new debit card number but the account remains disabled.

There doesn't seem to be any solution to this from the folks at Apple. As a very longtime Mac user, who was set to upgrade to the iPhone 4, I'm just really disappointed.

This is a widespread tactic by Apple that just happened to me as well. My account was hacked weeks ago, the fraud was returned and everything seemed fine. Then, weeks later my account was permanently disabled and I lost access to all apps I had purchased over 3 years for 2 different iPhones.

I work at an iPhone app developer and I use all Apple products. I have no interest in them being attacked. But this is illegal, they stole $80 of gift cards purchased for me by friends and family members. I am reporting this to my state attorney general and I recommend you all do so as well. In WA state it's as easy as filling out a web form. They need to be held accountable as one of the most profitable companies in America. This will become a class action lawsuit if we all spread the word.

There is an easy fix to this. They think your account has been hacked so the are not allowing your credit card to make purchases via iTunes. To fix this, just go to your payment settings, and where it allows you to choose a credit card type, choose none.

You won't be able to buy anything without an iTunes gift card or certificate, but you have your account back.

This solved my problem. I don't know if we have the same problem though.
