Apple Wallet needs passcode instead of face ID

Hello team,

I have iPhone 14 and I have already disabled the Face ID and pass code from the apple wallet from settings —> Face ID and passcode —> wallet (switched off)

when I pay it requests my passcode. How can I solve this issue? I don’t want to enter neither passcode nor Face ID for payments. Please advise.

thank you

iPhone 14, iOS 16

I believe you will always need one form of verification to use Apple Pay for security reasons. Especially as Wallet is accessible with two presses of the home button or power button on later iPhones. Even if you turn that shortcut off, it will require a passcode (or Touch ID / Face ID). There is no workaround I am aware of.

When Authorizing any type of Payment (your Money goes out) you should Always need to Authorize it personally. The alternative is that anyone can Take and Use your Phone and Spend Your Money until the associated Account is Empty or Overdrawn. Typing in a simple Passcode after a Double Click is easy, takes Seconds and makes your Hard Earned Money Safer than Cash or a simple Swipe/Tap. It also prevents your Phone, iPad, Watch or whatever Chip you use from being Read by anyone or thing around you.

You can disable at lest some of the Cards in Apple Wallet, our HomeKey doesn’t require any input (Confirmation) but We can Enable it.

I don’t like, want or use any Biometrics or Face ID. Apple Wallet states that I HAVE to Setup and Enable Face ID in order to add my Divers License, that’s why I don’t have it in my Apple wallet. It doesn’t make sense to me that a Passcode is fine for all of the other Cards but a Drivers License Requires the Least Secure form of Verification Apple has to offer.

How do you figure Face ID is least secure? It uses at least 30,000 points of reference. Apple estimated when iPhone X was released in 2017 that the odds were at least 1,000,000 to 1. It was widely reported that Face ID was improved in 2020 when iPhone 12 was released. A 6 digit passcode, if enabled, is less secure.

On the other hand, a simple Google search finds thousands of articles about thieves observing the passcode and stealing the iPhone. Here’s an article on someone losing $2,000,000.
