I have an old MacBook air and it doesn't connect to the app store for software update

The MacBook had a apple id which no one knew the password nor the apple id so i had to reset factory the MacBook air with no password and download the mountain lion version for it

Now i have an account that doesn't connect to the app store at all i even tried connecting vpns and it was so annoying because no vpn was able to get connected cause of the old version that it is and i really don't know what to do please help

If your Mac is compatible with a version of macOS that is only available in the App Store – such as High Sierra – then I think what you'll need to do is to download and install Sierra first. Once you have installed Sierra, then its versions of Safari and the App Store should let you get High Sierra (assuming your Mac can run High Sierra).
