Mac Air M1 2020 stuck in restore screen

Hello All

Need a help here - I have a MacBook Air M1 2020 version. I am using it for last 16 month so just out of the regular 1 year warranty and I did not opt for extended warranty (I should have).

Now the issues is last week the MacBook restarted abruptly couple of times and the next day it went into a loop with the Apple logo coming up and restarting. I long pressed the power button to get to the recovery mode and when prompted tried reinstalling the OS (Ventura) again. During the next reboot it got stuck in the Apple logo and finally ended with the ! sign and support.apple.com/mac/restore screen.

After this I tried troubleshooting with Apple support and then took it to the Apple authorised service station but the end diagnosis as per the service folks is changing the logicboard which will literally cost me 70% of cost price of the MacBook.

So trying to check here if anyone of you have any suggestions on anything else I can try before going for an expensive overhaul. I have a feeling that it is a software issue and not a hardware issue and should have a solution other than changing the logicboard. Please help/advise.

my 2020 MacBook Pro had the same problem. After the 'd' key failed my computer kept booting into recovery mode, then recovery mode would stall and reboot, again and again. Nothing I could do solved this problem. Ended up being the new Mac keyboard. Individual keys cannot be replaced or fixed. Requires a new keyboard and costs a fortune. It ended up in the trash.

I had the M1 MBA purchased on March 2021 and the only problem I had was, I wanted he M2 version once it came out.

That M1 MBA came with macOS 11 Big Sur, upGraded to macOS 12 Monterey and lasted moved to mcOS 13 Ventura before I Traded it into Apple for the M2 MBA

Since the Authorized Apple Service Centre is presumed to a Certified Service Centre and they have evaluated the computer who are we to second guess what they have found to be the issue.

After all, we ALL here are working Remotely from all around the world and do not have Physical and On Hands Access to this machine
