My friend and I are sharing our activities workouts. Every time I complete my workouts she gets notified, but I don’t get notified when she completes hers.
I know she is coz I can see her rings, plus we talk.
my settings are fine. The notifications are unmuted.
still this seems to work only one way.
what is the problem?

I had the same issue. Go to Settings/Fitness/Fitness Notification Settings/Toggle on "Activity Sharing". Hope that helps.

No, that didn't work. It is apparently a setting on the activity app's settings. You go to your account > Notifications > toggle on the Activity Sharing bit.

This is typically resolved by making sure all the settings and such are correct. To that end, lets start by making sure it is set up correctly, take a look at the "Get help with Activity Sharing" in this article:
Share your Activity with your Apple Watch - Apple Support
Then make sure that the software is updated on both iPhones and Apple Watches:
Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Update the software on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
Then unpair and re-pair both of the Apple Watches:
Unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone - Apple Support
Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support

It is possible that if the issue is within the data on the Apple Watch, the issue could come back. But, if it is within the watchOS software, unpairing would replace that software. It is also the next step in the progress, before we we lose the data on the Apple Watch.

I have checked through everything you have mentioned above, and it's all there. Obviously, the friend has been added coz she gets a notification. Both iwatch and iPhone software is up to date.
I am not sure if I want to unpair the iWatch...I know it says it will take a backup, but if I restore from the backup...isn't it likely that this issue will come back with it?
I am sure it isnt the data issue...OS, maybe. I will try the unpairing and see how it goes. Thanks for your help :)
