apple tv 4k siri remote won't charge

My Aluminium Apple TV 4K Siri remote has run out of charge.

But when I try to charge it nothing happens.

'Settings' says the remote is: 'Not Connected'

Any ideas ?

I have tried all your suggestions but to no avail - the remote is still not charging.

Strangely, the volume control and mute functions do work but none of the other functions. Which makes me think there is still some charge in the remote’s battery.

-Try a different charger

-Try plugging into a different wall outlet

-try resetting the remote with the following steps:

If your remote still isn't working as expected, try restarting your remote.

  1. Press and hold the TV/Control Center button and the Volume Down button at the same time. Hold the buttons down for about 5 seconds, or until the status light on your Apple TV turns off and on again.
  2. Release the buttons. Then wait 5 to 10 seconds for a Connection Lost notification to appear on your TV screen.
  3. Wait while your remote restarts. When the Connected notification appears, you can use your remote.

If you still can't get it to work reach out to Apple for support. If it is still under warranty then they'll more than likely replace it. If it's outside of your warranty then you can get it replaced at an out of warranty price.

Try to charge the Siri Remote as described in Apple’s support documentation.

Charge the Siri Remote - Apple Support

  • to a power adapter in a wall socket,
  • or to a computer’s USB port.

There are no indicators on the remote itself to show that it is charging.

You can find the battery charge level in Settings on the Apple TV box.

If somehow the pairing was lost, then you can pair and connect it again.

If the issue persists after all that, then contact Apple for assistance.

Physical remote defects may be diagnosed in an Apple Store or by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Hello there!

Does the charger you use for charging the remote, work?

Try a different cable or wall adapter.

Also, does the charger physically fit in the port of the remote? It is possible that there is dust stuck in the port.

You can click here to see how you clean you're port.

If this didn't help at all, than you can try to reset your Apple TV.

Hope this helps!
